Coach Tim Cone in favor of another ‘bubble season’
PBA winningest head coach Tim Cone is pretty desperate to start the PBA’s 46th season, which is why he is open for another bubble set-up to jumpstart the season.
The opening of this year’s PBA Philippine Cup was supposed to take place this April, but the government enforced an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) lockdown in Metro Manila and neighboring provinces due to the spike of COVID-19 cases.
According to the Ginebra mentor, most players and staffs are also willing to do whatever it takes to get the season started already.
“The last bubble was difficult, no doubt about it. It was mentally wearing. Hate being away from the family. But we have to do whatever it takes to get back to playing. As difficult as it might be, we certainly welcome the chance of getting back to the bubble,” he said.
The Ginebra was crowned as the champion in PBA’S first-ever bubble season, which lasted from October to December of 2020.
“I think the hardest part of the bubble was there was nothing you can control. You couldn’t decide how long you practice. You don’t always see the players when you want to see them,” Cone said.
