ECUADORIAN authorities have seized a large shipment of cocaine whose packages were marked with images of Norwegian football star Erling Haaland.
Police discovered the green-wrapped packages inside a truck near Ecuador’s border with Colombia, according to a report shared by the New York Post.
Images released by authorities showed hundreds of rectangular packages scattered on the ground after the seizure.
Several packages carried stickers featuring Haaland alongside another person, with the word “Haaland” prominently displayed.
The discovery drew attention because of the Manchester City FC star’s growing global popularity.
Haaland has recently been in the spotlight for his performances for Norway, including a reported seven goals in four World Cup matches in July.
The seizure is part of Ecuadorian authorities’ continuing efforts to intercept illegal drug shipments, particularly in areas near the country’s border with Colombia. (Adrian Co)
