CJ Perez named PBA Rookie of the Year
Columbian Dyip rising star CJ Perez, the top pick of the 2019 PBA Rookie Draft, has been nothing short of impressive in his first season in the pros, and so he has been hailed as last season’s Rookie of the Year.
Perez normed a league-best 20.8 points, 7.4 boards, 3.4 assists, and 1.9 steals per game in his maiden PBA season.
He beat out NorthPort’s Robert Bolick, TNT’s Bobby Ray Parks, and Rain Or Shine’s JV Mocon for the award.
The former Lyceum stalwart was also named among the first Mythical Team with Jayson Castro (TNT), Christian Standhardinger (NorthPort), and Sean Anthony (NorthPort), and now six-time MVP June Mar Fajardo (San Miguel).
He was also included in the All-Defensive Team with Fajardo, Anthony, Japeth Aguilar (Barangay Ginebra), and Chris Ross (San Miguel).
San Miguel big man Mo Tautuaa bagged the Most Improved Player honors while Rain or Shine veteran Gabe Norwood earned the Samboy Lim Sportsmanship Award, growing his collection to three.
