Columbian remains Rain or Shine’s kryptonite

By Miles Morales

Columbian remained the only team the league-leading Rain or Shine has yet to beat since last season.

This is after the Dyip on Wednesday night reasserted their mastery over the Elasto Painters after an 85-82 win in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Columbian fell behind by as much as 16 points early in the game but was able to end the third with a 9-pointed lead.

The Painters failed to capitalize on down the stretch as they went scoreless in the last two minutes after veteran Gabe Norwood puts the ROS within a solitary point, 82-83.

Jackson Corpuz scored 6 of his 12 points in the fourth period and also had 8 rebounds to lead the scrappy Dyip down the stretch.

Rookie sensation CJ Perez had 11 points, 11 rebounds and 2 steals while Rashawn McCarthy finished with 22 points to lead Columbian.

The Dyip boosted their quarterfinals chances with their fourth win in nine games while also dealing the Painters their second straight loss.

Mark Borboran paced the Painters with 21 points. James Yap chipped in 12 points but missed the potential game-tying triple.
