Cone plans to seek an audience with Slaughter’s agent

Ginebra coach Tim Cone isn’t giving up on his big man Greg Slaughter even as the 7-foot-1 Fil-Am behemoth already announced that he’s taking a break now from basketball after his contract has with the Gin Kings lapsed.

“We plan to speak with him and his agent over the next couple of days,” said Cone.

Cone won four of his record 22 PBA championships with the Ginebra team featuring twin towers Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar.

The Ginebra duo was tipped to dominate the lane especially with June Mar Fajardo out of the San Miguel team in the coming Philippine Cup. But then came Slaughter’s shocking announcement.

The former Ateneo hotshots has played all his seven years in the PBA as a Gin King since being chosen as the No. 1 draft selection in 2013.

He won the Rookie of the Year award in 2014 and has had a Best Player of the Conference award tucked under his belt aside from one Mythical Second Team citation.
