Controversial forward Calvin Abueva returns to Phoenix squad for practice

The Beast may have learned his lesson already.

Calvin Abueva made his return with the Phoenix Pulse by attending the team’s practice on Thursday morning.

According to report from, PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial gave the controversial forward the green light to participate in the team’s training to get back in shape.

The 2012 2nd overall pick was last seen in 2019 Commissioner’s Cup where he was slapped with an indefinite suspension after drawing a clothesline to TNT import Terrence Jones.

However, Marcial noted that Abueva isn’t going back to PBA anytime soon.

The former NCAA MVP gained notoriety when he first made obscene gestures to Ray-Ray Park’s girlfriend, Maika Rivera, during the Blackwater-Phoenix match up.

Abueva was also involved in an unsanctioned “ligang-labas” right after his suspension, and he was also involved in an alleged domestic violence against his former wife.
