Creamline Cool Smashers’ supporters stole the spotlight at the Premier Volleyball League Invitational as they made a memorable entrance at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City on Saturday evening, donning vibrant pink “Ate Chona” shirts.
The “Ate Chona” shirts are named in reference to Akari Power Chargers veteran Christine Joy Soyud’s girlfriend, who called the Cool Smashers players “Ate Chona” or “attitude” in a social media post. This post was made after the Cool Smashers declined to represent the country in the recent Asian Volleyball Confederation Cup tournament.
Following the Cool Smashers’ triumphant 25-19, 24-26, 26-24, 25-19 win over the Power Chargers, netizens, particularly supporters of Creamline, playfully mocked the situation.
