‘Crying Meme Again’ Michael Jordan gives emotional tribute to Kobe Bryant

Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan could not help himself but to burst into tears while delivering his speech in Kobe and Gigi’s Memorial Day.

“Now he’s got me. I’m gonna have to look at another crying meme,” Jordan joked.

MJ became a meme on social media when he was also teary-eyed during the 2009 Basketball Hall Of Fame induction ceremony.

“I told my wife that I wasn’t going to do this because I didn’t want to see that for the next three or more years. That is what Kobe Bryant does to me,” he shared.

For Jordan, Kobe was more than just a close friend to him — because the Black Mamba was also considered as his “Little Brother”.

“Maybe it surprised people, that Kobe and I were very close friends, but we were very close friends. Kobe was my dear friend, he was like a little brother,” said the six-time NBA champion.

The moment Jordan knew that Kobe and Gigi were figured in a helicopter crash, a part of him also died according to his eulogy.

“When Kobe Bryant died, a piece of me died. And as I look in this arena and across the globe, a piece of you died. Those are the memories we have to live with and we learn from. I promise you, from this day forward, I will live with the memories of know that I had a little brother, and that I tried to help in every way I could. Please, rest in peace, little brother.”

Bryant was the closest athlete that was ever compared to Jordan due to their similar play style and moves on the court.

Both Kobe and MJ developed a mutual respect and bond with each during their playing years.
