The current batch of University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers are now sporting a semi-bald (semi-kalbo) haircut.
This tradition was initiated by returning UST head coach Alfredo “Pido” Jarencio, and members of the team have since followed suit by shaving their heads semi-bald.
Miguel Pangilinan shared an Instagram story featuring before and after pictures of the UST players with their newly shaved heads.
The picture included him, Nicael Cabanero, SJ Moore, Kenji Duremdes, and several others.
Jarencio first introduced this practice during his first term as the Growling Tigers head coach in 2006, which was also the year when UST clinched its last UAAP men’s basketball championship title.
After a disappointing 1-13 performance by Bal David’s team last season, Jarencio was brought back as head coach for this year’s campaign.
