ALEXANDRA Eala’s father, Mike, shared the spotlight with his daughter during a lighthearted moment at the US Open’s “Stars of the Open” exhibition in New York.
Mike and the father of American tennis player Iva Jovic were invited onto the court before the final game of the one-set exhibition match between their daughters at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The fathers joined Alex and Jovic for some casual hitting, adding a playful touch to an otherwise competitive exhibition.
Jovic eventually won the match, 6-3, but the moment involving the two fathers drew attention from the crowd.
Alex also had a playful take on her father and Jovic’s father, Bojan Jovic, during the event.
“I think our dads are at the top of the style game on the circuit. Will you guys agree?” Eala said when asked about their fashion sense.
The exhibition served as a tune-up for both young players ahead of the US Open women’s singles tournament.
Eala will now shift her focus to the main draw, where she is seeded No. 17, the highest Grand Slam seeding of her career.
The 21-year-old Filipina will learn her first-round opponent after the women’s qualifying competition is completed. (Adrian Co)
