Premier Volleyball League players Dani Ravena and Pia Ildefonso get into the Gilas Pilipinas craze, naming their potential starting five.
In a brief interview clip with Puso Pilipinas, Ravena mentioned her brothers Kiefer and Thirdy Ravena, along with Kai Sotto, Dwight Ramos, and naturalized player Justin Brownlee, as her potential first five for Gilas Pilipinas.
Explaining her selection, the Akari Power Chargers libero stated, “All out sila for Team Philippines.”
For her part, Ildefonso included her fellow Pangasinenses Jaymar “CJ” Perez and Rhenz Abando, along with Ramos, June Mar Fajardo, and Angelo Kouame, in her own Gilas 5.
“Perez and Abando for Ilocano pride,” said Ildefonso, who plays for Farm Fresh Foxies in the PVL. “Tapos siyempre si June Mar, kasi tinuruan ni tatay.”
As the co-host country, Gilas Pilipinas is prepared to compete in the 2023 FIBA World Cup later this month.
