Choco Mucho Flying Titans setter Deanna Wong expressed her delight at finally teaming up with fellow Cebuana volleyball player Cherry Rondina in the Premier Volleyball League.
According to Wong, she had previously discussed the idea of playing together with Rondina, recognizing her as a valuable asset to any team due to her exceptional offensive skills.
“Before napag-usapan din namin na maging teammates and coming both from our home province in Cebu, nagkaka-connect agad tapos nagkakaintindihan,” said Wong.
“Just really grateful na nandiyan siya kasi malaking tulong hindi lang through offense, through defense din and through what she learned sa international games sa beach volleyball malaking tulong ‘yun para sa amin,” she added.
Rondina, on the other hand, acknowledged that she is still adapting to her return to indoor volleyball, but expressed her desire to reciprocate the trust given to her by Wong, who serves as the setter for the Flying Titans.
“Ako kasi honestly gusto ko iparamdam kay Deanna na maganda siya mag set… Kumbaga hindi ako makakapalo kung wala ‘yung set niya. Ganon ‘yung gusto kong iparamdam sa kanya,” said Rondina.
“Ganon ako every setter na kasama ko gusto kong iparamdam sa kanya na ang ganda ng set mo kaya pinapalo ko, gusto kong ipupuntos ko agad,” she added.
Wong and Rondina found themselves on opposite sides during the UAAP Season 81 Finals, with Wong representing the Ateneo Blue Eagles and Rondina playing for the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses.
