Defense plays key role in Alaska’s win over Talk ‘N Text
Alaska Aces made sure that they will not go home crying in defeat.
Alaska successfully prevented an early exit to the PBA Playoffs after drubbing the Tropang Talk ‘N Text, 85-81, in the Game 2 of their quarterfinals showdown on 2016 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Aces head Coach Alex Compton credited his team’s victory to their tough defense, which allowed them to extend the series to a do-or-die Game 3.
“I’m so happy in the way we defended. It was different,” Compton said.
Alaska’s defense forced Talk ‘N Text to commit 16 turnovers in the first half and made 15 points out of those wasted possessions.
Turnovers continued to haunt the Tropang Talk ‘N Text as their TOs ballooned to 22 with only six minutes remaining in the game clock.
“We got stops, that was huge,” Compton said. “I certainly hope that we can keep Talk ‘N Text to only 81 points on Friday pero mukhang mahirap.”
Alaska will try to adjust in the offensive end on Friday, as they hope to clinch a semifinals berth.
“We gotta come up with some new looks on offense that can get us some easier baskets.” –Roxanne Enriquez
