Derrick Jones Jr. tests positive for coronavirus
Miami Heat forward Derrick Jones Jr. has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a report from Barry Jackson and Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald.
Jones has been asymptomatic from the deadly virus, and is still expected to join the Heat in NBA’s season return in Orlando once he has been tested negative twice, per Jackson and Chiang
The 2020 Slam Dunk Contest winner has been at the Heat’s key piece in their rotation, averaging 8.9 PPG, 4.2 RPG, and 1.1 SPG in 51 games.
The cases of NBA players testing positive for COVID-19 this week was due to teams’ mandatory testing on Tuesday for next month’s NBA restart.
Recently, Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic, Indiana Pacers guard Malcolm Brogdon, and three Sacramento Kings players (Jabari Parker, Buddy Hield, and Alex Len) are among the others who have tested positive.
