Derrick Rose, Dwayne Wade not part of the 2019 NBA All-Star starters
Many NBA fans were shocked that Miami Heat’s Dwayne Wade and Minnesota Timberwolves’ Derrick Rose were not included in the starting team for the 2019 NBA All-Star Game.
Little did the fans know, there was an in-depth breakdown of the votes which included the current players’ vote and a media panel’s vote.
Fans accounted for 50 percent of the votes, while all current NBA players accounted for 25 percent, and another 25 percent for the media panel.
In the posted breakdown result, fan-favorite Derrick Rose was initially projected to be a starter, but the current players and media panels voted for James Harden instead, and their votes outweighed the fans’.
Rose’s last appearance in the All-Star Game was way back in 2012.
Same with Rose’s situation, Dwayne Wade also got outvoted by Charlotte Hornet’s Kemba Walker.
Both Rose and Wade need the coaches’ votes to be part of the reserves and a chance to be in the All-Star Game on February 18 (Manila time). (Janiel Abby Toralba)
