Despite the loss, Joe Silva happy for his former players

FORMER Ateneo de Manila Blue Eaglets head coach Joe Silva was happy despite the University of the East’s 62-89 defeat against the Blue Eagles.

Veterans Anton Asistio, Aaron Black, Gian Mamuyac, Thirdy Ravena, Jolo Mendoza, Mike and Matt Nieto, and rookie SJ Belangel combined for 43 points.

Those nine players played under the tutelage of Silva and he was proud of what they have become.

“Ako, sobrang happy ako. They are performing as they should plus they’re getting better because of coach Tab [Baldwin] and his system,” Silva said.

After his move from Katipunan to Recto, Silva only had one thing in mind, to give the Red Warriors a champions, or even championships.

“My focus is on UE now. My journey with Ateneo is done. Now I’m with UE,” he added.

“My focus is to make UE into what Ateneo is now. Tough task but I’m willing to do the job,” he shared.
