Di kailangan? Chua confident Ginebra can manage without Slaughter

Ginebra Governor Al Francis Chua is confident that the Gin Kings can compete upcoming 2020 Philippine Cup even without the towering center Greg Slaughter who recently announced his sabbatical from the game.

“Okay pa rin ang Ginebra alam mo adjustments lang yan dati nung nainjure din siya we won championship, and then we won championship with him and dinedicate namin sa kanya kasi nakatiim na siya ng champion,” said Chua.

He also clarified rumors surrounding Slaughter’s decision to take a leave from basketball, saying that the Ginebra management never had the chance to talk to 7 foot center before or after his announcement that he’ll be taking a break from basketball.

“I never talked to him, even the management, the higher management. Nakausap ata siya ni Tim nung close out meeting sila ata nag usap. Ayun lang, lumipad na ng Amerika so desisyon nya iyon. He’s not young anymore,” said Chua

He also denied the trade rumors involving the center which were viewed by many as the reason to Slaughter’s sabbatical.

“May nangyayari, may rumor daw sabi ititrade daw, may rumor daw sabi walang kontrata, paano magkakakontrata eh naglalaro pa, paanong may trade rumor na ganto, kung may trade rumor na ganun edi punta kayo ng PBA kung may sinbumit kaming trade form, ganun lang yun kasimple,” Chua commented.
