It has been reported that the Memphis Grizzlies will not be re-signing Dillon Brooks, which suggests that his NBA career is now in decline.
Sources told The Athletic that the Grizzlies have informed Brooks that he will not be brought back under any circumstances.
The 27-year-old Brooks, who spent all six years of his NBA career with Memphis, established himself as a “three-and-D” player over the past few seasons.
However, he also earned a reputation for being a cocky and dirty player due to incidents such as hitting LeBron James in the groin during Game 3 of their first-round series, which led to his ejection.
Additionally, he also referred to James as “old” in one of his post-game interviews, further increasing the number of people who dislike him.
During last year’s playoffs, he was involved in a hard foul against Golden State’s Gary Payton II, which caused an injury.
In addition, his on-court performance was lacking, averaging only 10.5 points on 31.2 percent shooting from the field and 23.8 percent shooting from deep in the first round.
His underwhelming performance was one of the contributing factors that led to Memphis’ early exit in the playoffs, a disappointment after finishing the regular season as the second seed in the West. (MJD)
