Divine Adili’s parents visit Ateneo team after loss to UP

The parents of late Ateneo student-athlete Divine Adili visited the Blue Eagles squad after their game against the University of the Philippines, offering comfort and solidarity to the team as both sides continue to grieve his death.

Elias and Ifeoma Adili went to the Ateneo dugout after the game and spent time with the players, coaches and members of the community.

Despite still mourning the loss of their son, the Adilis chose to be with the team and share a moment of support with those who were also affected by the tragedy.

“Presence is not only about one moment or one gathering—it is continuing to show up for one another, to listen, to remember, to pray, to extend kindness even through our own pain, and simply be there,” Ateneo said in a social media post.

The Adilis later joined Ateneo parents for dinner, providing an opportunity for the families to gather in an atmosphere of remembrance, comfort and healing.

Ateneo expressed its gratitude to the couple for spending time with the community and for offering support despite their own grief.
