The WBC bantamweight title tiff between former world champion Nonito Donaire and Mexico’s Alexandro Santiago has been moved to a later date and a bigger venue.
The 12-rounder, initially slated for July 15 at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, has been moved to July 29.
It will also take place at the larger T-Mobile Arena on the undercard of the welterweight unification showdown between IBF-WBC-WBA champ Errol Spence Jr. and his WBO counterpart Terence Crawford, according to veteran boxing commentator Atty. Ed Tolentino.
Donaire is gunning to reset boxing history in his latest title chase. The 40-year-old wants to become the oldest boxer to win the bantamweight title.
Donaire initially set the record in May 2021, when he stopped France’s Nordine Oubaali to capture the WBC bantamweight title at age 38.
He is also attempting to become the first boxer to become bantamweight champion four times.
