Alex Eala fell short in her finals match against No. 6 seed Destanee Aiava of Australia, 6-3, 4-6, 1-6, in the W25 Aldershot in Great Britain on Sunday.
After falling behind in the first set, Aiava bounced back to 3-0 after Eala netted a forehand service return.
The Australian extended her lead to 5-1, but Eala reduced the gap to 4-5 with another break after two deuces. The Filipina eventually dropped her serve with a double fault, 4-6.
Aiava gained a 2-0 upper hand in the third set due to another Eala double fault. The Australian carried on with her dominance, 5-0, and the Filipino responded with a love service hold to finally score in the deciding set.
The Australian then fired her second ace in the match to earn two championship points.
Aiava took the victory after Eala’s forehand error, 6-1.
Eala was looking to add to her titles from the W25 Roehampton in London last week.
