Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala fought from 0-3 in the second match before seizing a 1-6, 7-6(4), 6-3 win against Britain’s Katy Dunne at the W25 Aldershot semis at the Centre Court of the Aldershot Tennis Centre on Saturday.
Dunne was dominant in the first 32 minutes until she was forced to call for a medical timeout.
The third seed, Eala, then stepped on the gas, turning the tables against the British nine-time ITF singles winner in the second set.
In the deciding third set, Eala rallied from 0-2 to 2-2 before calling a quick medical timeout herself.
Eala then proceeded to prevail with a service hold on her only match point, 6-3, to improve her head-to-head with Dunne to 2-0.
With the victory, Eala has set herself up for a title clash against Australian sixth seed Destanee Aiava on Sunday.
Before entering the competition, Eala had just won her fourth ITF crown at last week’s W25 Roehampton.
