SUPPORT for Alexandra Eala will extend beyond the tennis court, with her Singapore Open matches set to be screened in selected SM Cinema branches in the Philippines.
SM Cinema said the Filipina’s matches in the WTA 500 tournament will be available for viewing at four venues: SM Megamall, SM North EDSA, SM Mall of Asia and SM Seaside Cebu.
The Singapore Open is scheduled for September 22 to 27, giving Filipino fans an opportunity to follow Eala’s campaign on the big screen.
Details on ticket prices and the start of ticket sales had yet to be announced.
Eala is competing in Singapore as the tournament’s No. 3 seed and will not play in the opening round after receiving a bye.
The 21-year-old arrived in Singapore after a short trip back to the Philippines and has resumed training ahead of her second-round match.
Her participation comes amid growing attention surrounding her campaign in Singapore. Nike also recently released a limited Sampaguita-inspired collection connected to Eala, with the items sold exclusively at its Orchard Road store. (Adrian Co)
