Chelsea has locked in rising Ecuadorian football star Moisés Caicedo for the next eight years.
The 21-year-old Caicedo has formally signed an eight-year £115 million ($145 million) contract to transfer to the West London-based squad on Monday (Tuesday, Manila time).
In a press conference, Caicedo said that wearing the Chelsea colors is a dream come true for him, as he was an avid supporter of the football club growing up.
“I am so happy to join Chelsea! I am so excited to be here at this big club, and I didn’t have to think twice when Chelsea called me. I just knew I wanted to sign for this club,” Caicedo said.
“(Claude) Makélélé and (N’Golo) Kanté were an inspiration to me. When I was a kid, I supported Chelsea and used to watch the games. It’s amazing to be here,” he added, referring to former Chelsea players.
Brighton released Caicedo to Chelsea in exchange for a fee, and he is certain to contribute to his new team’s success in winning championships in the English Premier League.
“It’s a dream come true to be here, and I can’t wait. I don’t hope, but I am sure we are going to win a lot of titles with this amazing club, to put Chelsea where they deserve to be,” Caicedo said.
Caicedo’s move to Chelsea is considered one of the biggest free agent moves this transfer window.
