EJ Obiena’s coach: Binayaran ako ng tama

EJ Obiena’s coach, Vitaly Petrov, made it clear that he was rightfully compensated, contrary to the allegations made by Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) that he has not received his coaching fee.

“I have been fully paid in this sum by EJ both directly and indirectly, I confirm this. I have no problem with EJ Obiena,” said Petrov in a statement.

In a report by Philippine Daily Inquirer, PATAFA accused Obiena of falsifying the liquidation reports, as well as not paying Petrov his monthly stipend.

The PATAFA ordered the 26-year old to return the 85,000 euros or P4.8 million pesos worth of financial assistance.

Petrov found the allegations against Obiena incomprehensible since the situation “is ruining his chance to succeed now and in the future”.

‘I must say I do not understand what this federation (PATAFA) is doing and what good comes out of destroying a fine young man,” he said.

“It is opposite and sets the Philippine track and field program back and this is a shame.”
