Eumir Marcial ipinagbunyi ng Senado

Filipino Olympic bronze medalist Eumir Marcial has been given commendation by the Senate for his recent victory in the professional ranks.

Marcial, who visited the Senate on Monday, was recognized for his victory over Argentinian fighter Ricardo Ruben Villalba last February.

“Isa po siyang inspirasyon sa libo-libong atleta at milyong-milyong kabataang Pilipino na nagsisikap na makamit ang kanilang mga pangarap,” said Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva, who co-sponsored a resolution citing Marcial.

For his part, Senate Committee on Sports chairman Senator Christopher “Bong” Go cited sports’ positive influence on the community. This is why they felt it proper to recognize Marcial’s exploits in the boxing ring.

“I place a great importance on the development of sports in our country through our combined efforts to be able to continue to inspire and empower our Filipino athletes to achieve greater heights in bringing honor and glory to our country,” he said.

Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri encouraged the heavy-hitting middleweight to stay persistent in his effort to bring honor to the Philippines.

“We’d like to congratulate him on a job well done, making the country proud. Continue the good works that you do for the people in Zamboanga, all throughout the Philippines,” said Zubiri.

Marcial was also accorded the Senate Medal of Excellence back in September 2021 for his bronze medal win in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“Thank you very much, Senate of the Philippines, and Senate President Senator Migz Zubiri, for having me and my wife, Princess Marcial. I want to express my gratitude to all the senators for the support and recognizing my hard work.🇵🇭💯👊🏽🙏🏾💪🏽☝🏽 Mabuhay and God bless!” said Marcial in his appreciation post on Facebook.
