FORMER NBA Most Valuable Player Derrick Rose arrived in Cebu on Tuesday, marking his first visit to the Queen City of the South as he prepares for a series of engagements with local basketball fans.
Rose, who has made several trips to the Philippines in the past, said he was excited to finally experience Cebu and meet its basketball community.
“I’m so pumped to finally be here and meet the fans in Cebu over the next few days,” Rose said. “I already felt the warm welcome from the moment I arrived, and I’m excited to experience more of the city.”
The former NBA star is scheduled to headline events in Cebu, including a gathering with selected fans and a public appearance at SM Seaside City Cebu.
For Rose, the visit provides an opportunity to connect with supporters who have followed his career through its highs, setbacks and comeback.
“I feel the love, and it’s always special to see how basketball can bring communities together no matter where you are in the world,” he said.
Rose’s Cebu trip is his fifth visit to the Philippines, but it is his first time bringing his basketball journey to the country’s Queen City of the South. (Adrian Co)
