Ex-UST Players Fortuna, Lo Applies As Growling Tigers’ Assistant Coach
Former University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers players Jeric Fortuna and Kim Kaizer Lo have applied for the vacant assistant coach position in the school’s men’s basketball team.
In a report by The Varsitarian on Friday afternoon, it said that both Fortuna and Lo have already submitted their application to UST Institute of Physical Education and Athletics director Fr. Ermito de Sagon, O.P.
Fortuna suited up for the Growling Tigers from 2008 to 2012 under former UST mentor Alfredo Jarencio. The 5-foot-6 point guard did not win a UAAP title but was part of the UST team that won the Philippine Collegiate Champions League crown in 2012.
Fortuna also played and win a crown for San Miguel Beermen-Philippines in ASEAN Basketball League in 2013. He played for six years in PBA and won two championships while with San Miguel Beermen.
Lo, on the other hand, played with UST from 2010 to 2013 where he was mentored by Jarencio and Bong dela Cruz. He won a championship with Blackwater Elite in the PBA Developmental League in 2013.
There were already a handful of names that submitted application for UST head coaching post in Ed Cordero, Gilbert Lao, Sebastian Potit de Vera and Christian Gavina.
