Fajardo hard on himself after crucial free-throw misses
By Mark Patriarca
June Mar Fajardo has always been the steady anchor for San Miguel’s offense especially on crunch time. But in Game 5, he botched two key free-throws that contributed to their defeat.
With the uncharacteristic misses, four-time MVP Fajardo was blaming himself for the sorry loss of the Beermen to Ginebra, 87-83.
“Dahil doon, kung nai-shoot ko siguro, mag-iiba siguro ang storya pero namintis ko. Akin ‘yun.” admitted Fajardo.
That fumble overshadowed his consistent strong showing in the game finishing with 23 points with just two missed field goals, and 11 boards.
And with San Miguel having only two days to try and compose themselves for a do-or-die game on August 8, Wednesday, Fajardo and co. have to quickly address their lapses to have a chance to defend their throne in a hopeful Game 7.
Kailangan namin mag-regroup, magpahinga para makabawi sa next game. Mahirap pero nandito kami sa ganitong sitwasyon before, so siguro kaya naman namin gawin ulit ‘yun,” Fajardo talking about their miraculous comeback last 2016. “Mahirap pero kailangan talaga ibigay namin yung pinaka-best namin.”
