Fajardo towers his way for 2nd PBA Player of the Week award
By Mark Patriarca
Four-time MVP June Mar Fajardo continues to prove why he is considered the best player in the league today as he bags his second PBA Player of the Week award for the ongoing conference.
6-foot-10 Fajardo posted beast-like averages of 21.0 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 2.0 assists to beat rival Greg Slaughter for the weekly plum.
The Cebuano native was a vital cog for the past two wins of San Miguel in their semifinals series against Alaska and have not dropped a single game in the playoffs, sweeping Talk and Text KaTropa in their quarterfinals match.
In their semis opener against the Aces, Fajardo flirted with double-double 17 markers and 9 rebounds. A day after that, he once again delivered for San Miguel with 21 points and 18 rebounds to inch close to another PBA Finals stint.
With Fajardo peaking at the right time, his seventh Best Player of the Conference award is also within reach as he is currently in contention against Alaska’s Vic Manuel.
