The Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws and the University of the East Lady Warriors cruised to a 3-0 record in the V-League Women’s Collegiate Challenge after separate wins on Friday at the Paco Arena in Manila.
The Lady Tamaraws continued their hot start after making quick work of the reigning NAASCU champions, the Enderun College Lady Titans, 25-11, 25-10, 25-16.
Rookie outside hitter Kiesha Bedonia took charge for the Lady Tamaraws with 14 points, including the decisive kills in the third set that sealed the straight-set win.
Faida Bakanke broke through with 10 markers on eight attacks and two blocks for the Lady Tamaraws, which also drew seven points, including three aces, from Chenie Tagaod.
“Masaya ako kasi na-meet namin ‘yung objectives for this game—na ma-lessen ‘yung errors. Maganda naman ‘yung performance ng lahat,” said FEU interim coach Manolo Refugia.
Erika Deloria topped Enderun’s offense with six points, but FEU held Enderun’s best scorer, Althea Botor, to two markers. The Lady Titans slipped to 1-2.
The University of the East Lady Warriors matched Lady Tamaraws’ lopsided win with a 25-14, 25-19, 25-14 domination of the San Sebastian College-Recoletos Lady Stags, which suffered its third straight loss.
