Rei Diaz, the head coach of the Far Eastern University Tamaraws men’s volleyball team, has submitted his resignation.
FEU announced on Saturday that Diaz resigned from his position to pursue corporate work in his hometown of Bataan.
Diaz assumed the role of head coach for the Tamaraws in UAAP Season 77, amassing a record of 54 wins and 38 losses throughout his tenure until his resignation.
Due to COVID-19, three UAAP men’s volleyball seasons were cancelled during his tenure, limiting his service as the mentor of the Tamaraws to six seasons.
During UAAP Season 85 earlier this year, the Tamaraws secured a third-place finish following their defeat to the University of Santo Tomas Tiger Spikers in the stepladder semifinals.
Eddieson Orcullo, a longtime assistant coach, is poised to take over Diaz’s position. Notably, Diaz also had a stint as the head coach of the Perlas Lady Spikers in the Premier Volleyball League.
Orcullo, on the other hand, brings head coaching experience to the table, having previously led the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors team in the Philippine Superliga and the PVL.
