FEU prepared for Final Four victory

FEU is ready to crash the Ateneo-La Salle UAAP Finals party as far as FEU coach Shaq delos Santos is concerned.

Delos Santos made the pronouncement after the Lady Tams pulled off an upset and a 15-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-21, 16-14 come from behind win over many time UAAP Finalist La Salle.

“Sinabi ko sa mga bata ibang usapan na ‘tong Final Four kasi mas napaghandaan na natin ‘yung pwedeng mangyari at swerte kami kasi nakuha namin ‘yung fifth set,” de los Santos said.

“Naniwala lang ako na bilog ang bola kaya sobrang thank you kay Lord na ginabayan niya kami sa laro,” delos Santos added.

Bernadeth Pons led the charge with 22 hits off 20 spikes, a block, and a service ace. Graduating Captain Remy Palma, for her part, exploded for 18 points, including the crucial blows in the fifth set.

Chin Basas was also in sync, chalking up 17 markers and 15 digs.

With the win, FEU just needs to win vs. La Salle again to booking a UAAP Finals ticket vs. back-to-back champion Ateneo.

FEU last made the UAAP Finals in 2008 when the Rachel Daquis-powered squad won the UAAP title vs. Adamson. (Ian Rosario)
