Kihei Clark was held scoreless in his NBA Summer League debut as the Utah Jazz edged out the Minnesota Timberwolves, 108-96, on Monday night (Tuesday, Manila time) at the Cox Pavillion in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Filipino-American guard played for a total of six minutes for the Jazz and missed his lone shot attempt but recorded one rebound and one assist to his name.
The 5-foot-10 Clark was first fielded in at the 4:45 mark of the first quarter and immediately grabbed a rebound and assisted Johnny Juzang’s three-point basket that pushed the Jazz’ advantage to 18-14.
Clark, however, committed a shooting foul on the Timberwolves’ D.J. Carton and turned the ball over with a Carton steal before the Fil-Am was subbed out with a minute remaining in the first quarter.
The guard, who traced his roots to Ilocos, did return at the 5:56 mark of the third quarter and missed a driving layup before he was benched for good at the 3:33 mark in lieu of the Jazz’s rookie Keyonte George.
This was Clark’s first game with Utah after being benched in the previous four matches, including three games in the Salt Lake City leg of the NBA Summer League last week.
