Finals-bound Paul Desiderio skips PBA Draft

Paul Desiderio has made a huge decision for himself — he will forego the PBA Draft.

Of course, the UP skipper just lead his team to its first Finals appearance in 32 years by defeating Adamson on Wednesday, 89-87.

Now that the Fighting Maroons are already Finals-bound, they will face the Ateneo Blue Eagles on these schedules — December 1, December 5, and December 8 (if necessary).

Hence, the 21-year-old Desiderio wouldn’t make it to the December 3 deadline.

“Wala. ‘Di aabot,” he said.

Make no mistake, he really wanted to take his talent to the professional league, but their sudden victory halted his plan to do so.

“Actually, gusto ko ngang magpa-draft kaso hindi ako aabot sa deadline.”

However, it’s all worth it for the graduating guard, since the State U still continues to make history.

“Okay na okay lang din naman kasi ang tagal-tagal na ‘tong inantay ng UP community,” Desiderio shared.

Despite his decision not to enter the PBA Draft this year, most experts and critics still view Desiderio as a first-rounder prospect.
