The Creamline Cool Smashers have gained benefits from their five-set matches against the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers and the Cignal HD Spikers while preparing for the two foreign teams in the Premier Volleyball League Invitational single-round robin semifinals.
According to star hitter Diana Carlos, the two tight victories of the Cool Smashers are a huge test for them before they battle Kurashiki Ablaze of Japan and Kinh Bac of Vietnam next week.
“‘Yung team din kasi the more na dikdikan ‘yung laban, the more na makikita mo na nagtutulungan talaga,” said Carlos, a former University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons standout.
“So ayon, through these five-setter games, for me personally, nakikita ko na napapalakas nya lalo ‘yung loob ng team as a whole and the players as an individual,” added the three-time PVL MVP.
Cool Smashers head coach Sherwin Meneses, for his part, said their pair of five-set triumphs in the semifinals shows that his team has what it takes to contend with the foreign squads.
Syempre ‘yung Creamline naman, proven na ‘yan sa five-setter, kahit ano ‘yung resulta, basta sila naglalaro lang naman sila. So, ang magandang resulta, nanalo kami, pangalawang beses na,” said Meneses.
“Masaya kami kasi patuloy na lumalapit ‘yung situation na makapunta ulit kami sa finals,” he added.
