Following his participation as part of the Cambodian team in the recent Southeast Asian Games, American basketball player Brandon Peterson has undergone naturalization to become a player for Syria.
Hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, Peterson represented Syria in the ongoing 2023 FIBA Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Asia.
“Triple-citizen? 3 passports/national ID cards? Must be interesting to be Brandon Peterson. A true global citizen!” wrote sports anchor Enzo Flojo.
Peterson is among several American players who were granted Cambodian passports to participate in the 2023 Southeast Asian Games held in Phnom Penh.
However, despite the added reinforcements, the Harry Savaya-led Cambodia team still fell to a defeat against the Gilas Pilipinas in the gold medal match.
