Former NBA coach picks Brownlee for Gilas’ next naturalized player.
Justin Brownlee’s college coach Mike Dunlap thinks that his former player should be chosen as the naturalized player for Gilas Pilipinas.
In the Hoop Coaches International webinar, Dunlap explained why the resident Ginebra import should play for the PH national team.
“He was one of those guys that were positionless before positionless became a fashionable word,” said the former Charlotte Bobcats coach to the 6-foot- 5 forward. “He’s smart and versatile and he could score naturally.”
So far, the naturalized process that was initiated 1-Pacman Rep. Mikee Romero has been pretty smooth so far.
“The thing about pro level, whether it’s the Philippines, the NBA, or Australia, or Euroball, is that when the money is on the line, you need guys that can score. And Justin was one of those guys that you didn’t have to diagram a play and all of a sudden, he would do something where you went, ‘Oh my God.’ And he was one of the guys,” Dunlap said.
Aside from Brownlee, Ateneo’s Angelo Kouame and former San Miguel import na si Chris McCullough has been a solid candidate for Gilas’ next naturalized player that will soon replace Andray Blatche.
