Former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) champion Bray Wyatt (real name Windham Rotunda) has died at the age of 36, the professional wrestling organization announced.
In a statement released on their social media page on Friday morning (Manila time), the WWE expressed its sadness over the untimely demise of Wyatt but did not give details on the cause of his death.
“WWE is saddened to learn that Windham Rotunda, also known as Bray Wyatt, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 24, at age 36,” the statement read. “WWE extends its condolences to Rotunda’s family, friends, and fans.”
Pro-wrestling reporter Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com, meanwhile, tweeted that Wyatt succumbed to a heart attack.
I was given permission to reveal that earlier this year Windham Rotunda (Bray Wyatt) got COVID that exacerbated a heart issues.
There was a lot of positive progress towards a return and his recovery. Unfortunately today he suffered a heart attack and passed away.

Bray Wyatt and the people around him were always very kind and generous professionally in my interactions with them. He was an incredibly creative man that cultivated a special following and perpetually excited fans about what was next.

One of the most popular modern pro wrestlers, Wyatt was a one-time WWE Champion and held the WWE Universal Championship twice.
Bray grew to fame under The Wyatt Family faction, which saw him lead Erick Rowan, Luke Harper (aka Brodie Lee, who died in 2020), and Braun Strowman.
Among the popular opponents of Wyatt at WWE were John Cena, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton, and Roman Reigns.
Wyatt’s last WWE appearance was when he won the Pitch Black match during the 2023 Royal Rumble last January.
