FARM Fresh leaned on a composed performance from Louie Romero to overcome Ho Chi Minh City, 25-14, 25-15, 26-28, 25-20, to open its 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Invitational Conference campaign on winning note Monday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Romero was named Player of the Game after orchestrating the Foxies’ offense with 24 excellent sets, helping Farm Fresh dictate the tempo and build a commanding 2-0 lead.
The Foxies appeared headed for a straight-set victory after dominating the opening two frames, but Ho Chi Minh City responded in the third and extended the match with a 28-26 escape.
Farm Fresh regained its composure in the fourth set, limiting the Vietnamese side’s comeback bid and pulling away late to seal the victory in four sets.
The Foxies joined defending champion PLDT High Speed Hitters and Creamline Cool Smashers among the early winners in the six-team field following the opening day of competition.
Farm Fresh will face another international opponent on Tuesday when it takes on Thailand’s EST Cola at 4pm.
Ho Chi Minh City, meanwhile, will look to rebound against Creamline at 6:30pm in Tuesday’s night match. (Adrian Co)
