Fran Yu earns respect from San Beda

Fran Yu may have suffered a severe cramps in the end game, but he sure did gave San Beda a massive headache in Game 2.

The Letran guard went bonkers in the second half, including an 8-0 Yu run that gave Letran a 56-53 lead in the third canto.

Unfortunately, Yu went down with a cramps in the closing period which allowed San Beda to force a Game 3 79-76 escape.

“Hindi na kaya kasi umangat na talaga (sa tiyan) eh,” said Yu.

Still, Red Lions head coach Boyet Fernandez was still lost for words for Yu.

“Fran Yu, wow! We’re just lucky he got cramps. That’s why we got our momentum and got back into the game. I salute that guy.”

Season 95 MVP Calvin Oftana, who made a game-winning shot down the line, also shared the same sentiments with Fernandez.

“Lucky lang kami nawala yung Fran Yu kaya parang dun kami lumamang,” Oftana agreed.

For Yu, he is only going to make San Beda’s defense pay in the winner-takes-all matchup.

“Lalaruin ko lang laro ko. Dedepensa muna tapos kung nakaka-shoot, titira,” he said.
