One-time NBA All-Star Fred VanVleet is on his way to Houston after a fruitful career with the Toronto Raptors.
The former NBA champion is set to sign a $130 million, 3-year deal with the Houston Rockets.
The acquisition of VanVleet by the Rockets will be the first max deal in this year’s NBA free agency period.
The undrafted guard has blossomed into one of the premier point guards in the league, averaging 19.3 points, 7.2 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.8 steals last season.
But despite his good performance, the Raptors have not made the postseason twice since they won a championship in 2019.
The Toronto Raptors were quick to secure a replacement for VanVleet by offering $26 million to Dennis Schroder in a two-year deal. (Mark Patriarca)
