GAB opts out heavy penalty for Blackwater; gives stern warning instead
The Games and Amusements Board (GAB) decided not to hand out a hefty fine to Blackwater Elite on Tuesday, and instead gave out a “stern warning and admonition” to the Elite who committed a violation of the health protocols set by the Inter-Agency Task Force.
The decision came only 24 hours after a joint administrative order from GAB, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), and Depatment of Health (DOH) was released in allowing pro-sports to resume trainings.
“The GAB has issued a stern warning and has admonished (the) Blackwater PBA team for practicing in violation of IATF rules and safety protocols,” GAB chairman Abraham “Baham” Mitra said in an official statement.
Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner Willie Marcial also accepted the formal apology from Blackwater owner Dioceldo Sy for holding a premature team practice under general community quarantine (GCQ).
