Ziv Espinas scored seven of his 27 points in the overtime period to tow Purefoods from a come-from-behind 91-87 win over Blackwater to clinch the 2023 Batang PBA 14-Under title on Thursday.
Purefoods came back from a 21-44 deficit to force overtime, where Espinas took over to secure the victory.
Ziv is the son of former PBA player Gabby Espinas. According to an article from Spin.ph, Ziv is also left-handed like his father. In addition, Ziv loves to play around the basket, which was Gabby’s primary offensive weapon. But Ziv’s advantage is that at age 14, he already has a sweet touch from the outside.
Ziv already stands at 6’2 and has a bright future ahead of him. He also revealed that he is currently receiving offers from different schools.
“Madami po nagre-recruit,” Ziv said. “Pero sa ngayon, daddy ko na lang po tanungin niyo kung saan ako pupunta.”
“Kahit saan po (gusto ko). Wala naman po akong magagawa kung gusto ko sa isang school, pero kung saan po tingin ng daddy ko na ‘yun po ‘yung best para sa akin, dun po ako. Kasi mas alam niya po ‘yung tama. And alam niya ‘yung ikabubuti ko,” he added. (MJD)
