George King unstoppable in SMB’s rout of Titan Ultra

SAN Miguel Beermen closed out their PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup campaign before the break in emphatic fashion, overwhelming Titan Ultra Giant Risers, 143-113, on Wednesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

George King returned to his dominant scoring form, pouring in 39 points to lead the Beermen to their seventh victory in nine games and keep them in second place with a 7-2 record.

San Miguel controlled the game from start to finish and pulled away for the 30-point victory, allowing the Beermen to head into the league’s break with strong momentum.

Celedonio Trollano added 21 points, while Marcio Lassiter contributed 15. John Rodney Brondial posted 13 points and 17 rebounds, and Jerrick Ahanmisi chipped in 11 for the Beermen.

Titan Ultra was led by Tirell Brown, Jr. who finished with 34 points. Fran Yu and John Amores scored 11 points apiece, while Jerrick Balanza added 10.

The Giant Risers also suffered a setback when rookie John Bryan Sajonia was stretchered off the court after sustaining a non-contact injury to his left knee.

The incident occurred in the same area of the court where NLEX import DeQuan Jones suffered his serious leg injury in an earlier game.

The loss was Titan Ultra’s seventh in nine outings, dropping the Giant Risers further down the standings. (Adrian Co)
