BULACAN – Following its 87-81 defeat to the Dominican Republic, Gilas Pilipinas has to make quick adjustments as it prepares for their Sunday match against the Angolans.
The Angolans, spearheaded by Atlanta Hawks’ Bruno Francisco, are ranked one place below the world’s No. 40 Gilas, but national team coach Chot Reyes is well aware of Angola’s defensive strategies.
“Angola pressures the ball as much as the Dominican Republic, so yeah, definitely we have to make some adjustments in our offense,” he said.
“We have 19 turnovers (against the Dominicans), and that was big,” he added. “We shot the ball well than the Dominicans, but that’s just more attempts.”
Angola was able to give Italy a good fight during their clash on Friday. The game was tight in the first three quarters until the Italians exerted themselves in the final period for an 81-67 finish.
