Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) President Al Panlilio has announced that the official lineup of Gilas Pilipinas for the 2023 FIBA World Cup will be disclosed on August 23rd.
“I think the deadline from the FIBA point of view—I mean, we have the pool—but the deadline date for us to submit it (the final lineup) is August 23,” Panlilio said in the PSA forum on Tuesday.
“That’s when the team managers and the technical team meet up and declare the final lineups. I know other countries have done so. I think it’s very hard for the coaches to make a decision,” he added.
Panlilio also said that Gilas’ last three tune-up games could be the deciding factor on who will make it to the final roster.
“Based on those games, I think it will solidify in the coaches’ minds the final 12,” the SBP president said.
Gilas will face Ivory Coast, Montenegro, and Mexico for its final three tune-up games before the World Cup. (MJD)
