With FIBA officials thoroughly reviewing the incident that marred between Philippines and Australia, it is expected by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) and the PBA that sanctions will be meted for 9 players involved.
Sports analyst Quinito “The Dean” Henson posted a list for nine possible replacements in case of suspensions, with some familiar and new faces included.
Former Gilas players Paul Lee, LA Tenorio, Marcio Lassiter, Raymond Almazan, Jared Dillinger were included in the list as well as Arwind Santos and naturalized center Christian Standhardinger.
New faces Scottie Thompson and PBA’s current leading local scorer Vic Manuel also made the list.

D. Dillinger for Carl Bryan Cruz, Scottie Thompson for RR Pogoy, Vic Manuel for Calvin Abueva, Arwind Santos for Troy Rosario, Marcio Lassiter for Matthew Wright, Paul Lee for Terrence Romeo and LA Tenorio for Jayson Castro … let’s hope FIBA appreciates the context within which the brawl erupted in deciding the sanctions @samahangbasketbolngpilipinas @pbaconnect @fiba #fibaasiawcqualifiers #PhilippinesAustraliaBrawl
The SBP and the PBA expect to know the FIBA verdict before month’s end. And the local body and league already expressed their full support if supposed worst-case scenario happens.
