The Philippine women’s national basketball team suffered a 94-83 setback against the Chinese-Taipei youth team in the W. Jones Cup for Women on Monday at Heping Basketball Gymnasium.
Despite 22 points from Afril Bernardino, the Gilas women’s team slid to 1-2 after its second loss to a Chinese Taipei team.
The scores were close, 68-64, going into the fourth period, but Chinese Taipei’s shooters knocked down shot after shot to frustrate the Filipinas.
Aside from 22 points, Bernardino grabbed six rebounds and tallied three assists, a steal, and a block. Jack Animam added 18 points and nine rebounds, while Janine Pontejos added 11 points.
Kacey dela Rosa was limited to just four points and six rebounds.
Gilas earlier lost to the other Chinese Taipei squad, 89-85, before rebounding against Iran, 64-60.
