FEU tower Clare Castro powered her way with 8 points, while Gilas spitfire Janine Pontejos sparked all of her 6 points from downtown.
In the second game, however, Gilas ladies had to outlast the gritty Malaysia in a 15-13 survival.
Pontejos carried team PH with 5 points to slip past Malaysia’s threat.
Gilas then completed a sweep in a 16-13 finish all thanks to Pontejos’ sweet-shooting once again.
The Gilas’ marksman racked up 7 points while Afril Bernandino had 5 points.
